NICHOLAS WILSON
A painter, sculptor and printmaker with over fifty years dedicated to wildlife art, Nicholas Wilson's practice is inseparable from the natural landscapes of the American Southwest. His career took shape during his time as curator of exhibits at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum near Tucson — an experience that deepened both his love of nature and his commitment to rendering it with precision and feeling. Among his most remarkable achievements is a 16,250 square foot mural for the Jungle World exhibit at the Bronx Zoo, a project that took two and a half years to complete. His work is held in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian, the Cowboy Hall of Fame, the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum and the Booth Western Art Museum, and has been exhibited internationally, including at the British Museum of Natural History and the Scottish Museum of Natural History. He has been a featured cover artist for both Southwest Art and Arizona Highways, and his work appears in several major publications on wildlife art.
