Radiant Light, a Collection of Oil and Pastel Paintings

April 1 - May 31

The second exhibit opening our 2023 season was “Radiant Light," a collection of oil and pastel paintings by Loriann Signori.  Signori explores the possibilities of color to capture the beauty of light in the landscape.  She is a painter of luminosity. Her work is based in traditional methods and defined by colorist tendencies.  Yet her aims and methods undergo continual transformation.  Signori uses the luscious vibrant color of oils and soft pastels to their fullest effect, creating luminous spaces that elicit a sense of mystery.  Her paintings are, essentially, an emotional interpretation of time and place.

About this body of work, Loriann said the following:

The aim is love of life. The perfect joy. Allowing it to permeate all I do.

Therein lies the secret. Seductive and full of wonder, I allow this love to wrench me from the soft familiarity of the mundane, from the tedious life complexities, from the fatigue of the world and into the marvelous.

My job as an artist is to see openly - huge and forever changing. I long to uncover some new reason for delight where an indifferent observer would find only an irritating defect. The sincerity of this observational quest allows me to stay in contact with those little mysterious and secret forces that vibrate under the skin of things.

The quest relies on color. My eyes move away from seeing the colors of things and instead embrace the color of light. Hues that radiate, shine, and draw deep within themselves. Colors wish to fly!
