May 30 – June 30.  Afterglow, new paintings by Andras Bality
Opening for the Artist  |  Saturday,  June 1,  3-5 pm  |  Warm Springs Gallery

Andras Bality is a fine artist painter living in Richmond VA. He has been painting in Bath County for many years.  The title of this exhibit, “Afterglow,” refers to the fleeting moment an artist sees something, which makes him/her want to make a painting.  Since the image is fleeting, the artist has to use recollection as much as anything to capture the moment of inspiration.  Bality’s paintings are based on his daily routine, wherever his travels might take him. Many of the images are based in Bath County, but there are also images from Richmond, VA; Massachusetts; and the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia, in the show.

Elizabeth Brandt, sewn constructions
Through her quilt-making practice, Elizabeth Brandt is confidently redefining a beloved ancient craft that has uniquely represented both artistic expression and utility in tandem.  After years of discipline in Zen meditation and multiple different art forms, Brandt has been able to create a vocabulary in fiber that is entirely improvisational in shape, unexpected in color, dynamic in movement, and entirely at home in the context of contemporary art.

Nancy Simonds, Carmine and Magenta Locus, 22x22 inches, gouache on paper

July 2 – August 19
Opening for the Artist  |  Saturday,  July 6,  3-5 pm  |  Warm Springs Gallery

Nancy Simonds, gouache on paper
Nancy Simonds makes large-scale abstract gouache paintings on paper. In her ovoid series, squares without edges, she enjoys the play of organic shapes against the white of the background creating tension as the ovals touch or separate in varying degrees. These images reflect velvety textures such as moss covered earth as well as disparate edges, sizes and patterns coexisting in nature. Each shape is drawn and carved out by the edge of the brush.

Lucinda McDermott as Georgia O'Keffee

July 20.  Georgia O’Keeffe Dinner Theater
Dinner, Performance & Exhibit | Saturday, July 20, 5pm | Old Dairy

O’Keeffe! a one-woman play written and performed by Lucinda McDermott, explores the artistic and personal struggles of iconic American artist Georgia O’Keeffe. The play follows her as she grapples with the unresolved question that art aficionados continue to debate today:  Who is responsible for her success – herself or her famous and influential husband, photographer Alfred Stieglitz.

The evening begins with cocktails and an exhibit of artistic works in the style of Georgia O’Keeffe by Warm Springs Gallery artists, followed by a dinner based on Georgia O’Keeffe’s recipes, and then a performance of “O’Keeffe!” Tickets will be available April 1 through Eventbrite.

“A gutsy role . . . there’s so much to relish in this performance…”  – New York Post

 “A tour de force performance . . . Lucinda McDermott shines. . .”  –Richmond Times-Dispatch
